PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COURSESAll courses are 1 day in duration unless otherwise shown. WORKING WITH THE PRESS AND MEDIA - KEY PRINCIPLES AND ISSUESOVERVIEWPublicity can be the ‘life blood’ of any voluntary or community organisation. Yet it is becoming more and more difficult to obtain media coverage and, sometimes, it seems that the press and media are working to their own agenda (and it’s not always in tune with ours!). This practical, participative course will consider ways of using both established and new methods of promoting our aims through print and broadcast media. There will also be a session on handling media crises. WHO WOULD BENEFIT FROM THIS COURSE ?Anyone with responsibility for drafting media strategies, writing media releases or representing their organisations to the press and media. The course may particularly benefit to those who are required to be media spokespersons. TOPICS TO BE COVERED
TRAINING METHODSAll TrainingPeople courses are highly practical in nature and questions and comments are actively encouraged. No one is ever forced to participate at any of our courses but we do encourage maximum group participation. We make use of exercises, small group work, work in pairs and exercises such as quizzes and ice breakers designed to promote discussion and learning. The main points are illustrated by a mixture of PowerPoint, hand outs, use of a flip chart and video / audio (where appropriate). Our trainers always strive to provide actual examples of how the various issues under discussion have been practically implemented by individuals or organisations. |
